Amanda Granit serves as Chief Communications Officer for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Amanda joined teamHCSO in 2019 and was promoted to the position of Chief in August 2022. As Chief Communications Officer, she is responsible for all aspects of media relations as well as employee and external communications. She believes in building awareness and trust through brand communications and specializes in strategic communications. Her focus as Chief is to further Sheriff Chronister’s commitment to transparency and community engagement while highlighting the tremendous efforts of HCSO deputies and to provide insight into how teamHCSO carries out the mission, to protect and serve. Before joining the Sheriff’s Office, she worked for almost a decade as an award-winning journalist. During that time, she worked on an investigation team that uncovered government mismanagement and abuse of taxpayer dollars in New York State. For those efforts, Amanda received an NYS Emmy and the National Edward R. Murrow Award. She is a graduate of St. Bonaventure University in New York State, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications. In her free time, Amanda enjoys spending time with her husband and children.
