Courtney O’Keefe is the Director of Communications for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, where she serves as the agency’s lead spokesperson and public information officer. In this role, Courtney oversees all aspects of the Sheriff’s Office communications strategy, ensuring timely, accurate, and community-focused information is delivered to the public and media.
She manages communications during high-profile incidents, briefing local and national media, coordinating media on scene, and providing critical updates during public safety emergencies and high-profile criminal investigations. Courtney is responsible for drafting, editing, and distributing a wide range of communications materials, including news releases, internal and external newsletters, annual reports and event marketing.
Courtney also oversees the Sheriff’s Office digital presence, creating content and managing 21 official social media accounts across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, and Nextdoor. She produces photography and videography, monitors analytics, and evaluates engagement strategies to strengthen community outreach and recruiting efforts. Courtney works to connect the Sheriff’s Office with the community -- building trust, enhancing public safety awareness, and ensuring clear, compassionate communication during both everyday operations and critical incidents.
