Raquel Zick is the Public Information Officer for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and serves as the spokesperson for the agency. Raquel has over 20 years of experience in public service, spanning several major disasters and critical incidents. She has been awarded the Sheriff’s Office Unit Citation for her work as a Public Safety Dispatcher and the Isla Vista 2014 Incident Commendation, Thomas Fire 1/9 Debris Flow Incident Commendation, and the Conception 2019 Incident Commendation.

As the PIO, Raquel is responsible for providing information to the public on all Sheriff’s Office-related incidents. She reports directly to the Sheriff, partnering to provide information that reflects and clarifies the agency’s position on important issues. Raquel manages all social media efforts for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Nixle alerts. She also writes and produces the 30-minute quarterly Sheriff’s Roundup video, a behind-the-scenes look at the Sheriff’s Office.
