Kirsten is a communications and digital media professional with experience in the digital publishing, marketing, information technology, and public safety sectors. She is passionate about sharing stories of inspiring individuals and innovative programs. In her current role with the NC Department of Public Safety, Kirsten manages the external facing website and social media channels and a team of creatives who collaborate with the broader communications team to build print and digital deliverables for the brand. She is also the producer and host of the department’s podcast: The Safety Scoop. During her five years with the department, Kirsten has not only managed social media during “blue sky” days but has had numerous roles in the Joint Information Center (JIC) as part of the State Emergency Response Team (SERT) for disasters or activation events, to include Hurricane Florence, Hurricane Michael, Hurricane Dorian, Hurricane Isaias, the COVID-19 pandemic, snow storms, and public unrest. Kirsten earned her Bachelor’s degree in English, with a Creative Writing minor, from NC State University in 2013.
