Jody Donaldson is the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety (NCDPS). He joined NCDPS in 2021 and oversees all aspects of Communications, Marketing, Public Affairs, and Media Relations for the Agency. 

Departments within NCDPS include; the NC State Highway Patrol, NC National Guard, State Capitol Police, NC Emergency Management, Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and the NC Office of Recovery & Resiliency.

Before joining NCDPS, Mr. Donaldson was the Regional Chief Marketing & Communications Officer for the American Red Cross of the National Capital and Greater Chesapeake Region. He is a certified Advanced Public Information Officer (APIO) with FEMA and a Master Public Information Officer (MPIO) candidate.  

Mr. Donaldson started his career as a sworn police officer with the Fairfax County Police Department, quickly moving into the public affairs role and serving as a spokesperson for Virginia's largest municipal law enforcement agency.

Mr. Donaldson then served with the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent assigned to the Newark, NJ field office before returning to Virginia as the Civilian Commander of the Public Affairs Office of the Alexandria (VA) Police Department.

Mr. Donaldson holds a Master's degree from George Washington University in Washington, DC, and a Bachelor's degree from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. 

He also completed the Executive Development Leadership Program from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is completing the North Carolina Certified Public Manager Program (CPM) credential requirements.
