Aaron Anderson started his 20-year law enforcement career in private security for a university campus in Tennessee. He was then hired by a private security firm in Virginia and worked in developing physical security plans for insurance companies and schools in southwest Virginia. Mr. Anderson completed a Masters in Criminal Justice at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama. He assisted in creating a Bachelors in criminal justice for Freed Hardman University, where he still mentors the outgoing criminal justice graduates. In 2006 he went to work for the Memphis Police Department. Mr. Anderson has worked with the Memphis Police Department for 17 rewarding years in uniform patrol, various task forces, as an intelligence analyst at the Memphis Police Real Time Crime Center, and as a sergeant with the midnight felony response unit.

This talk will dive into integrating social media with other tools, including mapping software, tip allocation programs, excel, and data management tools to maximize information output during a critical event.

  • The importance of having tools to assist in dissemination efforts, such as maps, tip lines, and robust software for cataloging data.
  • The importance of having a plan if traditional information dissemination efforts are unavailable. Such as massive and prolonged power outages or cell towers being damaged or unavailable.
