Captain Shane Cook began his career in public safety as a firefighter in 2004 and created the public affairs office for MCES in 2009.
Over the course of his career, he's helped shoot, write and direct several commercials, short films, and PSAs for public safety or Fire/EMS-related topics and storylines for both TV and various social media platforms.
He travels across the state assisting other rural and small agencies to set up and launch their social media programs, including teaching how to use social media, training their leaders, and creating SOPs for their agency’s social media use.
Cook is the 2018 recipient of MCES EMT of the Year, 2016 Meritorious Service Medal, 2014 EMS service award, 2012 firefighter of the year, 2008 firefighter of the year, as well as cardiac and trauma save awards from the GA Office of EMS including 2019 Jasper County Fire Officer of the Year.
Cook has degrees in communications and small business management, is an SEO certified trainer, and a Georgia EMA certified Public Information Officer.
He continues to train and empower others in public safety to be the best “brand ambassadors” for their service on social media, and ensure the stories of public safety work, sacrifices, and victories are shared with honor, dedication, and heart.
