Rachel Terlep

Rachel Terlep is the senior social media manager for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources. She oversees digital media strategy, content creation, and community management for the DNR and Commissioner of Public Lands social accounts. Previously, she managed the social media accounts for Indiana University. She has been managing social media accounts for over ten years, and although best practices change fast, her fundamental approach remains the same: 1) Understand what her audience wants to hear and how they want to hear it. 2) Treat social media as an art and a science. 3) Push the envelope but stay rooted in the mission. Rachel’s background is in journalism, and she graduated from the University of Southern Indiana in 2010.
