Jameil Weldon is an award-winning communications expert, currently serving as the social media manager in Mecklenburg County, NC. She leads the County’s enterprise-wide social media engagement strategy and key department-level initiatives. Government Social Media named Jameil Social Media Professional of the Year in 2025.

Previously, she worked as a television news producer in Pittsburgh, an adjunct professor and museum video curator in Winston-Salem, NC, and in nonprofit social media. Jameil has a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Hampton University, a master’s degree in Mass Communications from the University of Florida, and a Master’s in Fine Arts in Documentary Film from Wake Forest University.
