Kim Zinke

Communications & Engagement Specialist for the BC Digital Academy
Government of British Columbia, Ministry of Citizens' Services

Kim Zinke is a communicator by trade, a storyteller at heart, and a curator by nature. She’s also easily distracted by shiny objects (and dogs). Enter Artificial Intelligence (AI). The spark came from her work at the BC Digital Academy, where they support employees on their digital learning journey. The task? Determine the skills and knowledge needed to interact with and harness AI. Especially for those without a tech background.

Rising to the challenge, Kim moved from curiosity, to apprehension, to advocacy. Her winning formula: explore, apply, demystify, and inspire. Every day she explores AI tools and learning. Then shares her experiences with her team and fellow learners. To make AI relatable and accessible, she uses a simple approach. A dash of storytelling, a pinch of humour, and peppered with practical insights.  Her AI journey can serve as a roadmap for others. Embracing technological shifts can lead to exciting new career chapters. Even for those in human-centered professions.

Kim holds a Master of Arts in Professional Communication from Royal Roads University. Her capstone project was a toolkit to help people find and tell their story.
