Lindsay Fuss (she/her), MPH, is a Public Health Specialist working in various areas of local public health, including community health planning, health education, and grant coordination. Within this role, she has developed a passion for behavioral health education and programming, including identifying and implementing behavior change through social media platforms. Lindsay strives to support, create, and champion behavioral health programming that empowers community members to take actionable changes toward reaching their highest level of health. Her other interests include Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), health equity, culturally responsive care, and trauma-informed care.

Social Media and Behavior Change: Bringing Health Education Models into the Virtual World

With the global COVID-19 pandemic, social media has opened new doors to creating connection and education. Information is available at your fingertips, making health education catch up to the age of social media communication.

In this session, you will learn how local public health has become innovative in integrating behavior change into social media platforms. Using visuals like videos and infographics to weekly polls, the City of Greenfield Health Department has turned health education into relatable, interactive content for our community and surrounding communities. This session will share lessons from our social media team over the past two years while providing real-world examples of how others can use behavior change to create relatable content for their community on various social media platforms.

  • The basic principles of the behavioral change model and its relevance to social media
  • Ways that real-world examples can be adapted to meet your audience where they are and create relatable, actionable content
  • Tips for how to use social media metrics to identify, implement, and evaluate health messaging
