Elena Koutsavakis is the Social Media Manager at Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), where she leads a team in the daily operation of 10 social media accounts. Elena has worked in the Communications field for 20 years in senior advisor and management roles across several Government of Canada organizations, including the Privy Council Office, Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Department of National Defence, and DFO.
In addition to working in digital media over the last several years, Elena has experience in strategic communications, media relations, crisis communications, change management, and corporate communications. But her passion is helping senior managers and teams build positive work environments where people feel driven to succeed and innovate. Elena brings a fresh perspective to the organizations she works for, pushing the public service to become better storytellers.
Elena has a BA Honours, Magna cum laude, from the University of Ottawa in Communications.
