Committed to unifying and strengthening UC Santa Barbara’s digital presence, Katie Falcone serves as the Content Marketing Manager within the university’s Office of Public Affairs & Communications. She oversees UC Santa Barbara’s social media presence, works to engage the campus community and promote adoption of the university's messaging and visual identity, updates and refines web content, supports alumni relations and development initiatives, and provides resources to campus communicators. Katie has over 10 years of marketing and communications experience, including agency work for the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and UVA Health System, marketing and events for a museum of the College of William & Mary, and communications roles within government, nonprofits, and the private sector. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Delaware.

Maintaining a unified university presence across social media can be a challenge, especially for schools with a decentralized communications structure.
A review of UC Santa Barbara-affiliated accounts across the major social media platforms identified the need for a streamlined approach to establishing new profiles. In response, the Office of Public Affairs & Communications implemented a registration process for new and existing accounts, a corresponding social directory, and a foundation of guidelines, best practices and security protocols to serve as a resource to campus communicators.
