As senior director of Communications for Emory Campus Life, Tomika DePriest develops and guides strategy to ensure that all Emory Campus Life communications consistently and accurately articulate the organization's mission, vision, and goals in alignment with the overall university brand.
In addition to leading the Emory Campus Life Communications team, Tomika reports to the senior vice president and dean of Campus Life, providing communications counsel on a range of issues, including crisis communications. As a member of the university’s Communications and Public Affairs team, she also works on strategic initiatives that advance Emory’s reputation.
Before joining Emory, DePriest served for 13 years with Spelman College as assistant to the president for strategic initiatives and as executive director of communications. She led the launch of socials and recruited talent in support at both Spelman and Emory. She has also held communications leadership roles with Turner Broadcasting Systems and Southern Company.
DePriest is a member of and has been honored by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the Public Relations Society of America (national and Georgia chapter).
She holds a BA in English from Spelman, an MA in humanities from Clark Atlanta University, and a certificate from the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
