I’m Brian Bennett the VP Creative Director + Executive Producer at Carhartt and a 20 year Ad Veteran. Started out as a little boy working at Wieden + Kennedy on Nike in Portland, OR. From there I headed back to my hometown of Chicago to work on some of my favorite brands like Gatorade and Corona. Currently trying to find my manhood at Carhartt these last 9 years, a brand that’s more than a brand, but a way of life I thoroughly enjoy living.
When I’m not doing some activity with my 3 kids that my wife deems dangerous - I occasionally have some good ideas. Won 3 Cannes Lion for work I created to fight youth obesity for the Centers for Disease Control. Worked as a writing partner to Kobe Bryant on Dear Basketball which won him an Oscar. No, I didn’t get a statue - but he did thank me in the credits. I won an Effie Award for helping Corona ’Find your beach’ - a campaign so long-running it took a global pandemic named the Corona Virus to kill it. Most proud of the Chicago White Sox World Series ad I wrote for Nike for the fee of two tickets to the World Series where I took my dad, a life long fan. Recently just produced one of my favorite pieces ever, a film called, ‘A Surfer’s Search’ for our Carhartt x Hurley Colab. It was an official selection at several Film Fests and it just won a Webby Award for Best Branded Documentary.
I don’t live to make ads, I wake up thinking about telling real stories about real people. I also believe if you make work with the ones you love, about the stuff you love, the journey is worthy.
