CASE STUDY: How one of the largest public newspaper organizations in the US harnessed social data to stay relevant and drive up subscriptions

For the newspaper industry veteran, there are few phenomena as terrifying as the growth and standardization of social media as a go-to news source. In a short few years, social networks like Facebook and Twitter have become the top source for up-to-the-minute updates for goings on around the world, and newspapers have very visibly taken a dive in the opposite direction.

This case study looks at how one of the largest public newspaper organizations in the United States, with over 25 properties nationwide, took a chance with social data and found new ways to attract young demographics and drive up subscriptions to a variety of offers and products.
