Zaria Parvez

Global Social Media Manager

Zaria Parvez is Duolingo’s social media manager. She leads social strategy, community management, and creator partnerships across all major social platforms. She spearheaded the development of Duolingo’s TikTok account. Thanks to her daily research, keen sense of trending topics, and Gen Z wit, the account grew to over 3M followers in less than six months and was recently recognized as one of AdAge’s Top 5 Brand TikTok accounts. Before joining Duolingo, Zaria was a student at the University of Oregon, where she majored in advertising. She previously held internships at the American Advertising Federation, 4A’s, BBH New York, and Havas. She was also a MAIP 2019 intern as well as part of MPMS.

This panel will discuss how various industries approach community building on social media. Topics include:

  • Identifying the purpose of your community and how it aligns with your brand
  • Choosing a community platform that best engages your audience
  • Regularly engaging with your brand community and examples of incentives to keep them involved (contests, content, incentives, etc.)
  • What it means for a community to be "fan-first"
  • The impact a community can have on a brand's bottom line
  • The role of brand ambassadors, superfans, and creators within a brand community
