Stephanie Yancer is a graduate of Central Michigan University. There she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in parks and recreation and a Master’s Degree in Administration. She has worked with non-profits, a community foundation, the county park system, and now the state park system. Stephanie has been with the Michigan DNR since 2014, when she began working with programs and marketing.
In 2017, she began focusing strictly on social media marketing. She currently oversees over 60 Facebook pages that are park-specific, as well as a Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram account for Michigan State Parks, Trails, and Waterways. In addition to these platforms, she also finds ways to get creative with the Michigan DNR’s Pinterest page.
In Stephanie’s spare time, she enjoys getting outside with her husband and 4-year-old twin boys, who especially love camping and fishing.
Creating communities is what social media is all about. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources – Parks and Recreation Division is building the ultimate community of champions with their Michigan State Park Photo Ambassador program.
In this session, you will have the opportunity to learn about the ins and outs of the ambassador program. We will discuss why the program started and how it has helped the department solve many challenges, including marketing the state parks on a broader scale. You’ll also understand how the program is growing throughout the department and how the program has helped to grow the state park Instagram account.
